Filmmaker Name: Michael Bagdasarian

Short Biography About Filmmaker: Michael is a Southern California filmmaker who grew up in Santa Barbara. Michael won early awards for his writing including the 10-10-10 award at the SBIFF. He was confident enough to move to LA right after high school, and got his butt kicked by the industry. Michael became mediocre at almost everything - graduating from reputable acting and improv studios, he found work in the art department, then camera department and found consistent work as an editor and writer. Currently Michael has moved into a bar / diner using it as a location for multiple short films and two feature films that are currently in production.

What type of films do you most love to create?: I tend to jump between genres and styles - All of them have a message I can stand behind. I am in pre-production on a thriller that takes place at the diner I own. While actively shooting vignettes for a slow paced comedy a la Slacker & Wings of Desire. I'm most excited to tell thoughtful slower paced comedies that feel like the Sundance films of the 1990s.

Any notable awards or recognitions?: 10-10-10 best writer.
YOUNG CUTS most promising breakout director.
NFMLA Top 10 directors.
Scripts have placed in the top 3% on Coverfly.
Best Cinematographer - Denver Film Festival.

Fun fact or interesting tidbit about yourself: I bought a diner / bar that looks like a Tarantino type location and now rent it out to filmmakers to use.

Any additional details you'd like to share.: Been taking this short to various film festivals to spotlight the diner for other filmmakers to use in their upcoming projects. Really trying to get involved in the southern CA film community to build a team / join others in their projects.
